Formulating a national strategy for human rights and following up its implementation in coordination with all entities competent in human rights. Monitoring the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Sultanate of Oman in accordance with the Basic Statute of the State, the international covenants and agreements to which the Sultanate of Oman has acceded, and the laws in force. Monitoring observations may be raised by foreign governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, local and international media, and individuals in the field of human rights in the Sultanate of Oman, and coordinating with the relevant entities to verify them and respond to them . Providing advice to the relevant entities in the state in matters relating to human rights and freedoms, and contributing to the preparation of reports addressing these topics Monitoring any violations or infringements relating to human rights in the Sultanate of Oman, and assisting in settling and resolving them.Conducting announced and unannounced field visits to prisons, places of detention, health institutions, and labour gatherings, and monitoring the status of human rights in them . Receiving complaints in the field of human rights, studying them, making recommendations regarding them to the competent entities, and following up on them . Cooperating with international mechanisms relating to human rights and preparing reports relevant to them at the regional or international level . Organising conferences, courses and symposiums relaing to human rights in coordination with the competent entities. Participating in regional and international meetings, conferences and events relating to human rights . Recommending the ratification of or accession to international human rights agreements and covenants the Sultanate of Oman has not acceded to.
