A team from the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) participates in the activities of the Fourth Arab Regional High-Level Conference for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights
A team from the OHRC participated in the Fourth Arab Regional High-Level Conference for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights, the activities of which were held at the headquarters of the Secretariat-General of the League of Arab States in Cairo in cooperation and partnership between the League of Arab States, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), national and regional mechanisms of the Arab human rights system, national human rights institutions and civil society organizations. The aim of the conference was to reflect on efforts to reduce the economic and social repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, diagnose existing challenges, conclude lessons learned, strengthen cooperation and coordination among various institutions, and build future plans to ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals, and promote the Rights of Women, the Rights of Child, and the Rights of elders, persons with disabilities and migrant labour. In addition to emphasizing on the role of civil society organizations in spreading awareness and education, and contributing to efforts aimed at establishing peace, stability and development in harmonization with official efforts and national legislation, in addition to strengthening crisis management training, and coordinating with relevant regional and international bodies. The Commission was represented in this participation by lawyer/ Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Shanfari, member of the OHRC, and Mr. Walid bin Said Al-Badi, head of the Communications Department of the OHRC.
