A team from the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) visits the headquarters of the Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood in Seeb 
A team from the OHRC visited the headquarters of the Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood in Al Khod area in Seeb Governorate. During the visit, the team met with Ms/ Sanaa bint Abdulrahman Al-Khanjariya, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, and a number of the Association’ members and staff. At the beginning of the visit, Ms/ Rokaya bint Badr Al-Riyamiyah, Head of the Strategic Communication Department of the OHRC, gave a presentation on the Commission, its tasks and its competencies. A demonstration film on the Commission’s efforts in various areas related to Human Rights was presented. The Commission team also introduced the management of the association to the monitoring mechanism and reports receiving Commission, the means of communication with the Commission, the awareness and education programs the Commission provides, its role in protecting and promoting the Human Rights of the various segments of the society in the Sultanate of Oman, and its monitor on topics related to the category of children and motherhood. From the other part, the President of Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood explained part of the objectives of Association, which are to provide moral, financial and in-kind support to the families of orphans and families in distress, to provide awareness, educational and recreational services for children to encourage them to continue their educational and knowledge achievement, and to provide material support to the families of prison inmates. The Association also provide specialized services to educate women on family matter, to support productive family projects, to participate in activities concerned with women’s affairs, and to rehabilitate and integrate children with disabilities in cooperation with relevant institutions. During the visit, the OHRC team toured the headquarters of the Association and inspected its constituent sections, major programmes and projects implemented by the Association during this period. At the end of the visit, the Commission team provided 50 school bags, including all need school instruments, to support the project of providing 50 school bags for orphaned and low-income children. From the other part, the President of Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood expressed her gratitude for the visit of the Commission, and thanked those in charge of it, expressing her willingness to cooperate and coordinate with the committee, with regard to humanitarian cases monitored or followed up by the OHRC.
