Discussion on the Draft Anti-Human Trafficking Law Between Oman Human Rights Commission and the Shura Council
Oman Human Rights Commission, headed by Professor Rashid bin Hamad Al-Balushi, Chairman of the Commission, met with H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Saadi, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Committee of the Shura Council, along with the members of the Committee, at the headquarters of the Shura Council.
 
During the meeting, which was held at the invitation of the Legislative and Legal Committee of the Shura Council, the draft Anti-Human Trafficking Law was discussed. The meeting included listening to the perspectives of the members of Oman Human Rights Commission and its experts on the key features of the draft law, as well as its legal, social, and humanitarian dimensions. The aim was to foster joint collaboration that contributes to drafting a comprehensive and balanced law that strengthens national efforts to combat human trafficking.
 
Oman Human Rights Commission welcomed this invitation, considering it a practical model of integration between national entities. It also highlighted the high parliamentary standards demonstrated through leveraging the expertise of specialized national institutions to enhance national legislation. The Commission emphasized that this cooperation reflects the shared commitment of the Shura Council and Oman Human Rights Commission to ensuring the drafting of laws that align with international standards, respect Omani societal values, and support efforts to protect and promote human rights and combat human trafficking.
 
For its part, the Legislative and Legal Committee of the Shura Council pointed out that this cooperation falls within the Council’s efforts to benefit from the expertise of relevant institutions, ensuring that the proposed draft law is comprehensive and addresses all aspects related to combating human trafficking.
