Throughout the visit, the officers familiarized themselves with the OHRC, its operational mechanism, and its role to promote awareness and education regarding human rights.

The visiting officers were also acquainted with the OHRC Status, comprising 16 Articles delineating the formation of the OHRC, procedures for electing the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, membership tenure, competencies, and its overarching objective of promoting and protecting human rights within the Sultanate of Oman, as stipulated in the Basic Statute of the State, international charters and conventions ratified by the Sultanate of Oman, and applicable laws.

The medical services officers were also provided with an in-depth explanation on the monitoring protocols, procedures for handling complaints, and strategies for addressing reports received by the OHRC, with the aim of resolving or settling them in collaboration and alignment with pertinent authorities.

Moreover, insights into the OHRC work at both regional and international tiers, its membership status, and the distinction between international human rights law and international humanitarian law were elucidated throughout the visit.
