A number of members of the medical services course for officers in the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) visited OHRC headquarters. The delegation was received Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Kalbani, Secretary General to OHRC, and a number of officials at OHRC.
During the visit, the officers got acquainted with OHRC, its mechanism of action, and its mandates such as following up on the protection of human rights in the Sultanate in accordance with the Basic Law of the State and international charters and agreements, and monitoring what foreign governments, international organizations and non-governmental organizations may raise from observations in the field of human rights in the Sultanate, coordination with the relevant authorities contributing to the preparation of reports and recommendations dealing with these topics, monitoring any violations or abuses related to human rights, and assisting in their settlement and resolution.
The officers were also briefed on the mechanism of monitoring and receiving reports at OHRC, in addition to OHRC’s relationship with regional and international organizations related to human rights. They were also updated on OHRC’s memberships and its role in raising awareness and education on human rights.
