National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) hopes that the federal court in the United Arab Emirates consider accelerating the determination of the case of Muawiya Al Rawahi, who is being prisoned in the UAE since February 2015. The medical reports from Oman, Egypt and the UAE confirmed that Al Rawahi is suffering from a psychological illness that make him say or commit irresponsible acts. The Emirati Federal Court deliberated Muawiya’s case in nine sessions since 14 September 2015 and the final session was postponed five times.
In the upcoming session on 14 March 2016, NHRC appeals the federal court in the UAE to consider the health condition of the Omani citizen and the long time he spent in the prison waiting for the verdict.
