National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) held the first meeting for the third annual session of the second period; headed by the honorable Mohammed Abdullah Al Riyami, NHRC chairman. The meeting discussed several matters such as the Commission’s future plans in relation to promoting human rights on national and international levels, “Al Qafila”; a new program that raises the awareness of human rights culture in the society through field visits to various governorates, and the efforts that have been exerted in relation to the case of the national Muawiya Al Rawahi, who has been arrested and detained by the Emirati authorities. Regarding the last-mentioned matter, NHRC contacted the International Amnesty, Emirates Human Rights Association and other institutions in Oman and abroad in an attempt to resolve the case. In addition, the meeting discussed the subjects related to the 38
