National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) held its first meeting of the third annual session for the second period of 2015 presided by the honorable Mohammed Abdullah Al Riyami, NHRC Chairman, and the participation of His Excellency the vice-chairman, the general secretary and NHRC Members. During the meeting, the participants explored the general secretariat report for the period from December 2014 to April 2015, discussed the awareness program “Al Qafila” to be executed in the coming period, discussed the issue of the violating expats that were found in the airport project site and the necessity of acquiring more information from the Ministry of Manpower to follow up with the case. In addition, the participants discussed the proposal of conducting a national case study to measure the society’s awareness of human rights. The study aims to identify the main human rights information sources and the level of human rights awareness in the society. The participants also discussed the celebration of World Human Rights Day that is going to be themed about labor and laborers.
