The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) participated in the legalforum (Aataa Ferteqaa ) in August 2013 at Marriott Hotel in Willayet Merbat. This Forum was organized by Omani Lawyers Association and NHRC. First, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ibrahim, Professorof Constitutional Law in Sultan Qaboos University , presented about several topics such as separation of powers as a principle of the rule of law, constitutionality of the law according to the Basic Statute of State and other various topics. Second, Dr. Nasser Saif Al shamsi , NHRC Member , gave a presentation about human rights definition, types and features according to the Islamic law. In addition, he explained the rights that are guaranteed by the Basic Statute of State. He added at the end of his presentation that legists should reflect the legal knowledge more than others and educate the society members about the duties before the rights. Finally, Ahmed Ali al-Mekhini gave a presentation titled “Understanding the social reality in the development process”. He explained the reality of Omani society and encouraged the participants to innovate methods of development status for the legal environment in Oman.
