OHRC expressed its great happiness with H.M the Sultan’s Royal Decrees which approved the Sultanate’s joining the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, the approval of the Sultanate’s accession to the Convention Against Torture and Other Forms of Treatment or Cruel, Inhuman Or Degrading Punishment, and the International Covenant on Economic and Social Rights. This confirms the keenness of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to promote and protect human rights, and its constant interest in responding to international bodies and organizations concerned with human rights, particularly the United Nations.
While OHRC raises its thanks and appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, it affirms that OHRC will continue to carry out its responsibilities in accordance with the goals and mandates entrusted to it to serves human rights in the Sultanate.
