OHRC participates in the annual meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum
A team from OHRC participated in the annual meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum, through the Zoom application. During the meeting, the Forum’s financial performance report was reviewed and the report on promoting gender equality was presented. The meeting also approved the audited financial statements and elected the Forum’s representative in the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions. A video clip on national institutions for human rights and humanitarian work was also shown. The members were also updated by the Independent Commission for Human Rights in Afghanistan on the human rights situation in Afghanistan in light of the political upheaval there. The second day was devoted to a panel discussion between the United Nations Group on Discrimination against Women and members of the Asia Pacific Forum to clarify aspects of cooperation with the United Nations Group on Discrimination against Women, and to share the results of studies and recommendations of the team regarding the right to sexual and reproductive health for women and girls in crises. OHRC was represented in this meeting by Eng. Hamoud bin Salem Al Sunaidi, member of OHRC, lawyer Maymouna bint Said Al Sulaymaniyah, member of OHRC, and Iman bint Khaled Al Saidia, international relations specialist at OHRC.
