The Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) held a meeting under the Chairmanship of the Honorable Sheikh/ Abdullah bin Shuwain Al Hosni, Chairman of the OHRC, and with the attendance of the Commission’ members and Secretary General; the meeting took place in the OHRC headquarter.
The meeting started with an opening speech in which the OHRC Chairman welcomed the members, and praised the efforts invested in the recent period of this year in the field of monitoring/ receiving reports, responding to Human Rights international reports, as well as intervention in resolving humanitarian issues in coordination and cooperation with the competent authorities.
The meeting also reviewed the OHRC annual report 2021 which is currently developed, in addition to a set of topics related to promoting the Commission work mechanism through the joint committees established with the competent authorities. The meeting also discussed field visits made to the prisons and incarceration centers, in addition to a set of related subjects.
It was also presented during the meeting the contributions of the OHRC in supporting the great efforts of the government and society members in relieving and minimizing impacts suffered by some Sultanate areas due to Shaheen Cyclone, the matter that reflected the solidarity and noble human cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees discussed next phase steps of the OHRC work, and promoting its activities according to its responsibilities and duties in the field of Human Rights.
