The team of the OHRC, encompassing a set of its members and employees, conducted a field visit to Arzat Prison in Dhofar Governorate; the visit aimed at inspecting the services provided to the detainees, and monitoring their humanitarian conditions.
During the visit, the OHRC team met with Colonel/ Amin bin Bakhit Al Shanfari, Assistant Police Commander of Dhofar Governorate, Lieutenant Colonel/ Mohammed bin Rashid Al Gharibi, Director of Prison Operations, and Major/ Abdullah bin Salem Al Rahbi, Officer of Arzat Prison, and the team conducted with them a conversation regarding the visits carried out by the OHRC to detention centers and prisons in various Governorates of the Sultanate, and continuous communication and coordination to follow up on Human Rights related issues.
Thereafter, the team conduct a tour within Arzat Prison, in which the team was introduced to the service provided to the incarcerated, including health care services, and catering services. The team also inspected the facilities of the Prison and its various department.
