The Secretary General of Oman Human Rights Commission meets the regional representative of the United Nations Population Fund in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries
Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Kalbani, Secretary General of the Committee, met with HE Mr. Assir Ahmad Thomson, Regional Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in the GCC States, at the Committee’s headquarters. During the meeting, the Omani Committee for Human Rights was presented with an overview of the role of the Office in the empowerment of women and the role of the Office in empowering women. In the areas of health, education and appropriate employment, and assistance in the reproductive and psychological health of women and children, gender-based violence, the empowerment of young people, persons with disabilities and the elderly, and the collection and analysis of population data, Planning development initiatives and humanitarian response to disasters. As well as to discuss aspects of joint cooperation between the two sides in areas related to human rights and exchange of experiences. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General, Shatha Bint Abdul Majeed Al-Zadjalieh, Director of International Organizations and Relations, and Mr. Nasser bint Mohammed Al-Kindi, a specialist in international organizations.
