A delegation from the Oman Human Rights Commission headed by the OHRC Chairman Professor Dr./ Rashid bin Hamad Al Balushi met HE Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee in the brotherly State of Qatar in the Qatari capital Doha.
During the meeting, areas of joint cooperation between the OHRC and its counterpart in Qatar were discussed in light of the ongoing coordination between the two committees at the various regional and international levels. They also discussed the principles of the accreditation and classification of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions for the human rights committees, in addition to discussing exchanging experiences and the best practices in topics related to human rights.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed the law and structure of the Qatari Committee and it was introduced to the mechanism of selecting its members. The Chairperson of the Qatari National Human Rights Committee expressed her hope to extend cooperation between the two committees.
Meanwhile, the delegation met HE / Sultan Hassan Al Jamali, Secretary General of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions. During the meeting, aspects of cooperation between the OHRC and the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions were discussed, in addition to discussing holding training workshops in the Sultanate of Oman.
