The Oman Human Rights Commission delivers an awareness event for my school students in Al-Hail South

A team from the Oman Human Rights Commission provided an awareness-raising event in the field of human rights to students of Madrasiti in Al-Hail South. The event started with a presentation on the vision and mission of the Commission, and part of its competencies. It also highlighted the work it carries out in the field of monitoring and receiving communications. The film also presented its role in spreading awareness and education about human rights for different groups of society. During the event, Salem bin Khalfan Al Roshdi gave an awareness lecture on human rights to the teaching staff and school students. He clarified some articles of the basic statute of the state that came as affirmative and guarantor of human rights on the Sultanate’s land. He also explained some articles of the Child Rights Convention to which the Sultanate joined according to the Royal Decree No. (54/96) The Convention emphasized protecting the child and providing him with a safe and stable environment. He also reviewed some articles of the Child Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. 22/2014 and answered students ’questions regarding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Paris Principles, and the types of human rights within their academic projects related to human rights. The team also presented four film materials directed to children, family and society, produced by the Oman Human Rights Commission, in addition to distributing several handouts prepared exclusively for children. This event comes within the framework of the awareness and education plan implemented by the Commission this year, targeting various groups of society.
