Workshop on International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights for Members and Officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces

As part of efforts to promote respect for and protection of human rights in all circumstances, including during armed conflict, Professor Rashid bin Hamad Al-Balushi, Chairperson of the Oman Human Rights Commission, delivered a training Workshop for members and officers of the Sultan’s Armed Forces on International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law.
 
The Workshop covered the Paris Principles and the role of national human rights institutions in raising awareness and providing training. It also explained how International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law complement each other, and when each applies. Real-world examples and cases from international armed conflicts were used to illustrate violations and ways to prevent them.
