The Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) took part in the works of the International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief which was held in the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Center in the British capital London during the period (5-6 July 2022).
The Conference discussed several axes focusing on promoting the freedom of expression through dialogues among religions and beliefs, building blocks and motivations of effective constitutional protection, early warning, and preventing violations, promoting the freedom of religion or belief as an early warning of violations against human rights, in addition to promoting the freedom of religion or belief in a digital world and combating discrimination, and freedom of religion or belief in times of conflict and insecurity.
The conference also discussed the axis of the freedom of religion, or belief and education in the field of human rights, using technological innovation in order to promote the freedom of religion or belief, the role of media in informing about the freedom of religion or belief, engaging the upcoming generation of youth in protecting the cultural and religious heritage and the role of civil society as a drive for change.
The Conference aimed to discuss the collective issues for combating the violations and abuses against the freedom of religion or belief, the position of women and social minorities and related issues that parliamentarians and civil society can contribute to solving or protecting within the framework of human rights.
