Oman Human Rights Commission “Implements an Awareness Program Targeting School Students”
The OHRC in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Education represented by the South Al Batinah Directorate General of Education implements an awareness program targeting school students in South Al Batinah Governorate. The program aims at informing the children of several principles related to human rights including equality, adaptability and sustainability, focusing on children, partnership, universalism, and protection. During the implementation of the program, Amal bint Khalifa Al-Shmakhia, Head of Digital Communication in the OHRC gave awareness lectures to the targeted school students in which she addressed Child-Friendly Education in the Sultanate of Oman, education fundamentals according to sustainable development goals and enhancing the spirit of creativity and citizenship. The implemented program included awareness events for children, a variety of competitions, and displaying awareness films explaining part of the duties and rights that are guaranteed for the group of children, in addition to distributing hundreds of publications allocated for children which explain the legal articles related to the rights of the child and give information about various authorities concerned with protecting and promoting the rights of the child in the Sultanate of Oman and means of communication with these authorities, in addition to children’s stories.
