The Honorable Sheikh/ Abdullah bin Shuwain Al-Hosni, Chairman of the OHRC met HE Lord Tarek Ahmad of Wimbledon, the UK Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and United Nations at the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office at the headquarters of the OHRC.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission introduced the OHRC’s work, competencies, work mechanism, means of monitoring and receiving complaints, role in raising awareness and education on human rights in the Sultanate of Oman and its relationship with the regional and international organizations in the field of human rights.
For his part, HE Lord Tarek Ahmad expressed his happiness for visiting the Commission and asserted the significance of cooperation and coordination about all issues related to human rights in general. HE welcomed more cooperation between the OHRC and the authorities concerned with human rights in the United Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by Engineer/ Hamoud bin Salim Al-Sunaidi member of the committee, Saeed bin Salem Al-Numani the OHRC’s Secretary General, Shatha bint Abdul Majeed Al-Zadjali, Director of Organizations and International Relations Department and Eman bint Khalid Al-Saidia, Head of the Organizations Section at the OHRC.
