Under the chairmanship of honored Sheikh Abdullah bin Shuwain Al-Hosni, Chairman of the Commission, the Oman Human Rights Commission “OHRC” held its fourth meeting for the fourth annual session, attended by all its members and Secretary General.
At the beginning of its meeting, the Commission had the honor to extend its deepest thanks and appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may Allah protect and preserve him, issuing the Royal Decree No. 16/2023 approving the accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Charter on Human Rights, the matter that affirms the Sultanate’s commitment to the principles of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as its concern to pay attention to the provisions of the United Nations International Covenants on Civil and Political Rights, Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in addition to the regional and international human rights treaties and conventions.
Moreover, the meeting addressed many topics related to the Commission’s local and international activities, and continuing to assume its role in dealing deal with human rights issues through monitoring and receiving communications, besides reviewing the programs of the upcoming events that the Commission intends to implement this year.
