Oman Human Rights Commission Participates in Lecture at Joint Operations Planning Course
The Omani Human Rights Committee presented a lecture entitled “Introduction to Human Rights Organizations” as part of a joint operations planning course organized by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, represented by the Directorate of Policies and Plans for Joint Training. The course is attended by a number of military, security, and civilian personnel. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Salem bin Saif bin Duwaym Al-Shuwaili, Director of the Office of OHRC, in which he discussed the definition of the concept of international human rights law, the principles that must be adhered to so as to maintain order as well as armed conflict. Moreover, the lecture addressed the treaties pertaining to international human rights law as well as introducing international non-governmental organizations concerned with human rights and the challenges they face. On the other hand, the lecture introduced OHRC and its tasks and programs in spreading and promoting the culture of human rights.  Furthermore, a movie on OHRC was played to the participants, showing the programs and activities carried out by the Commission in accordance with its terms of reference that would protect and promote the human rights system in the Sultanate of Oman.
