As part of a high-level delegation from the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions “ANNHRIs”, the OHRC participated in the meeting with HE Volker Türk, High Commissioner for Human Rights, at the Palais Wilson in Geneva, Switzerland. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the imperative of concerted efforts between the ANNHRIs and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to collaborate with competent authorities in establishing secure corridors for the entry of relief agencies and their personnel. There was a call for the High Commissioner for Human Rights to take a resolute stance against the violations of the occupation authorities, given their role as the United Nations human rights official. Additionally, the need to eliminate duplication in addressing human rights issues was underscored, advocating for equitable rights for Palestinian citizens comparable to those in other nations, with the expectation that the United Nations would apply similar measures as in various armed conflicts. In light of these considerations, the OHRC underscored the need to halt the brutal aggression against the Palestinian people, ensuring their right to live in peace and dignity while supporting the establishment of their independent state. The OHRC remains committed to collaborative efforts with other national and international institutions in urging the international community to fulfill its responsibility towards the Palestinian cause. This includes condemning war crimes committed against civilians and advocating for holding those responsible for such crimes accountable before international justice. At this meeting, Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Barashdi, a member of the OHRC, represented the OHRC. It forms part of the ongoing endeavors of the ANNHRIs in collaboration with regional and international organizations to address the aggression on the Gaza Strip.
