A delegation from the Omani Human Rights Commission participated in the 22nd Session of the Arab Human Rights Committee (Charter Committee), which was dedicated to discussing the first periodic report of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The session witnessed broad participation from the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, the Arab Parliament, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, representatives of the permanent delegations of member states to the League of Arab States, National Human Rights Institutions, and civil society organizations. The OHRC participated to review the work of the Charter Committee, the mechanism for discussing periodic reports and questions raised by experts affiliated with the Charter Committee, and the mechanism for responding to those questions in accordance with the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Arab Charter for Human Rights. Furthermore, the Session’s meetings also included discussions on political, civil, economic, social, cultural and environmental rights in addition to combating human trafficking, and providing a decent life for the most vulnerable groups. The OHRC’s delegation was headed by Lawyer/ Mohammed bin Ali Al Marzouqi, a member of the committee, and participated in its membership: Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Owaisi, a member of the Commission, Counselor/ Jamal bin Salem Al Nabhani, a member of the committee, and Abdulaziz bin Ali Al Saadi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the Omani Human Rights Commission.
