Within the framework of mutual visits, His Excellency Nasr bin Khamis Al Sawa’i, the Public Prosecutor, visited the headquarters of the Oman Human Rights Commission. During the visit, he met Professor Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Balushi, Chairman of the Commission, a number of its members and the Secretary of the OHRC Technical Secretariat, in the presence of representatives of the Public Prosecution.
The meeting discussed several topics of common interest and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Oman Human Rights Commission and the Public Prosecution in fields related to human rights to ensure the protection and promotion of human rights for citizens and residents of the Sultanate of Oman.
During the meeting, the Public Prosecution presented a summary of its competencies, the stages of digital transformation, and the use of modern means in judicial work related to rights and freedoms. Furthermore, His Excellency and the visiting delegation learned about the terms of reference of the Oman Human Rights Commission, its most prominent programs, its role in monitoring and receiving reports, its relationship with regional and international organizations, and its programs to raise awareness and education on human rights that are being implemented.
