Oman Human Rights Commission concluded its participation in the Second Regional Review Conference of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration in the Arab region, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, Egypt.
The conference, held over two days, discussed expanding legal migration pathways, reducing irregular migration, migration patterns and trends in the Arab region, ensuring migrants’ access to basic services, protecting and empowering migrant workers, and activating their role in sustainable development in origin and destination countries.
The conference also explored enhancing human rights for all migrants, particularly the most vulnerable, intensifying national, bilateral, and international cooperation in migration, and the contribution of the UN Migration Network in implementing the Global Compact for Migration in the Arab region.
The Commission was represented by a delegation consisting of Abdulaziz bin Ali Al-Saadi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department, and Al-Muathir bin Ahmed Al-Siyabi, Head of the International Organizations Department at Oman Human Rights Commission.
