A delegation from Oman Human Rights Commission, led by Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Saadi, the member of the Commission, participated in the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions Conference and the 23rd General Assembly Meeting held in Amman, the capital of Jordan.
The Conference saw broad participation from Arab national human rights institutions, as well as international experts and advisors, representatives of government institutions, civil society organizations, treaty and non-treaty mechanisms, and regional and international human rights organizations.
The Conference and Meeting aimed to review and unify regional and international efforts to support national human rights institutions in the Arab world, focusing on the implications of violations of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law in the Arab Region due to Israeli attacks on Palestine and Lebanon. The Conference also discussed ways to support national human rights institutions in achieving Goal 16 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on building strong, effective, and well-governed institutions.
The delegation included Ms. Labiba bint Mohammed Al-Maawali, a member of the Commission, and Mr. Waleed bin Said Al-Badi, Head of the Complaints Department at Oman Human Rights Commission.
