Vision:

To be an effective national platform to promote and protect human rights among all segments and institutions of the society in Oman.

Mission:

Disseminate the culture of human rights among all members and institutions of the society and promote and protect human rights according to the national legislations and international laws.

Establishment of the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC):

The Oman Human Rights Commission was established in 2008 under Royal Decree No. (124/2008) to become an independent national entity to disseminate human rights culture and in order to protect and safeguard human rights in the Sultanate of Oman. Royal Decree No. (57/2022) that reorganized the OHRC and developed its new work system which upgraded it to the level of absolute independence in practicing its work as a national mechanism concerned with the protection and promotion of human rights as well as following up on them at both the local and international levels was issued to ensure the significance and prestige of the OHRC. The establishment of the OHRC by the Sultanate of Oman indicates the Sultanate’s awareness of the importance of protecting and safeguarding these rights and ensures the declared approval of the relevant international conventions.
