The Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC), in cooperation with several international and local partners, organized the “Business and Human Rights Forum.” The event aimed to highlight the intersection between corporate practices, economic development, and the preservation of human rights in the Sultanate.
The forum was attended by high-ranking officials, representatives from public and private sectors, civil society institutions, and experts from the United Nations.
During the opening speech, the OHRC Chairman emphasized Oman’s ongoing commitment to aligning its economic growth strategies—particularly under Oman Vision 2040—with international human rights standards. The discussions focused heavily on standardizing corporate social responsibility (CSR), ensuring fair labor practices, safeguarding workers’ rights, and promoting sustainable development.
International experts presented working papers on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), sharing global best practices for assessing human rights risks within corporate supply chains.
The forum concluded with a set of recommendations, including the development of a national action plan to guide Omani enterprises in implementing human rights principles into their daily operations and corporate governance frameworks.
