As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance institutional capacity and further develop the skills of its workforce, the Oman Human Rights Commission, in cooperation with the National Human Rights Council of the Kingdom of Morocco, organized a specialized training Workshop on the “Framework of National Human Rights Institutions.” The Workshop was held in Rabat and brought together a delegation comprising directors, heads of sections, and specialists from various administrative and technical divisions of the Commission.
Delivered by the National Human Rights Council over five consecutive days, the training programme featured interactive lectures and extensive discussion sessions that facilitated the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and consultations between the two institutions. The programme also included a series of thematic meetings with the Council’s departments responsible for human rights issues.
The sessions explored the constitutional, legal, and institutional development of Morocco’s human rights system, the mechanisms entrusted to the Council for monitoring the human rights situation, and Morocco’s advanced approach to integrating international law into domestic legislation. Participants were also introduced to methodologies for drafting annual reports, as well as mechanisms for monitoring, receiving, and processing complaints and reports.
On the sidelines of the training programme, the Commission’s delegation visited the photo exhibition commemorating the “Twentieth Anniversary of Truth, Equity and Reconciliation (2004–2024).” Through the exhibition, participants gained insight into Morocco’s distinctive transitional justice experience and the methods used to document and preserve historical records in support of a balanced human rights process grounded in transparency and objectivity.
