A team from the Oman Human Rights Commission participated in the activities of the international conference, organized by the Nepal Human Rights Commission on “Protection of the rights of migrant workers”. The conference witnessed wide participation of national human rights institutions in the Asia Pacific region, representatives and experts from government networks, civil society, and human rights bodies.
The conference aimed at evaluating the challenges and opportunities for protecting the rights of migrant workers in addition to enhancing understanding among human rights institutions in developing the strategic aims for protecting the rights of migrant workers. It also discussed the procedures and proposals to implement the aims of the conference by developing a framework for cooperation and enhancing partnership to create effective policy and procedures. The Commission was represented in the conference by a delegation comprising Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Rowahi, member of the committee, Ahmed bin Abdullah al Mahrouqi, Director of the Admin and Financial Department and Omar bin Said Al Mantheri, Director of the Information and Researches Office at the Committee.
