OHRC participated in the Muscat International Book Fair 2020 through a kiosk where it highlighted its mission, vision, mandates, relationship with regional and international organizations, the means for submitting communications, and its role in responding to human rights issues about the Sultanate raised by foreign organizations and governments.
OHRC’s awareness brochures and handouts played a vital role in educating the general public about the rights of various groups of society. During such participations, films produced by OHRC over the past years are also shown.
During the book fair, OHRC held a symposium that highlighted the nature of its work, its mission, its monitoring mechanism, complaints redressal, and the human rights awareness and educational programs it implements. Various activities for children were held at the Children’s Theater Corner like competitions, coloring, and reading of segments from OHRC’s booklets targeted at children.
Moreover, OHRC has created working groups that include jurists and staff members who constantly monitor the human rights situation and receive communications, other than experts from the fields of education and media.
