OHRC participates in combating human trafficking workshop in Cairo
OHRC participated in the workshop, which was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, on national and regional efforts in the field of combating human trafficking, amid a wide participation of national human rights institutions, civil society organizations, regional and international organizations, members of the League of Arab States, and United Nations agencies concerned with combating human trafficking. The workshop aimed at reviewing efforts, exchanging best practices, optimal ways to overcome challenges towards implementation of the content of regional and international instruments, strengthening security and judicial cooperation mechanisms regionally and internationally, intensifying national, regional and international efforts to prevent human trafficking, supporting Arab countries’ efforts to update their national legislation in line with regional developments , the establishment and strengthening of the functions of national mechanisms to combat human trafficking, the definition of national, regional and international legal frameworks to combat human trafficking, and a review of successful experiences in sharing experiences between the participating parties. OHRC delegation , which was headed by lawyer Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Shanfari, member of OHRC, comprised  Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al Saadi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department, Al Moathir bin Ahmed Al Siyabi, a specialist in international organizations, Hassan bin Ahmed Al Ajmi from the Directorate of Administrative and Financial Affairs at OHRC.
