OHRC participated in the Muscat International Book Fair and received visitors to OHRC corner. OHRC team distributed OHRC publications, such as the book titled “The Man in the Thought of the Sultan”, which talks about Sultan Qaboos bin said – may Allah rest his soul in Paradise and his thought and care for human rights. The team also distributed OHRC’s annual report for 2019, brochures and publications on human rights, handouts explaining the rights of different groups of society, in addition to responding to visitors’ queries related to OHRC’s mandates and clarifying the various human rights aspects.
As part of its participation in the exhibition, OHRC held a symposium on mechanisms for monitoring and receiving reports and observations in the Sultanate. The symposium included an explanation of the nature of its work and mandates, the development of the monitoring mechanism and methods used in receiving reports. The team also highlighted the human rights awareness and education programs implemented by OHRC.
The participation program included organizing activities for children in the children’s theater corner. The activities included a number of competitions and activities for children, a drawing studio, in addition to a reading section from OHRC booklets targeting children.
