The OHRC participates in the nineteenth session of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
The OHRC participated in the nineteenth session of the Independent Permanent Commission for Human Rights (IPHRC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the OIC in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The session examined regional and international mechanisms to monitor and investigate human rights violations, and strengthen cooperation with the human rights mechanisms of the United Nations. It also discussed the importance of the role of National Human Rights Institutions in promoting Human Rights in the member states of the OIC: The discussions of this session focused on the role of National Human Rights Institutions in promoting and protecting human rights in the OIC countries. The course also emphasized the role and contribution of National Human Rights Institutions in member states to follow up on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to further integrate a human rights-based approach into policy-making at the national and local levels with the aim of ensuring the application, monitoring and protection of international human rights norms and standards at the national level. The Commission was represented in this meeting by Mr/ Yasser bin Saeed Al-Dhali, a member of the Commission, and Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shafei, head of the monitoring department of the OHRC.
