The Oman Human Rights Commission launches new publications at the Muscat International Book Fair
The work teams of the Oman Human Rights Commission continue their work at the Muscat International Book Fair. The Commission prepared specialized teams and an action plan that includes a set of activities, events and works distributed throughout the Fair. The work teams of the Commission receive visitors to the Fair through the fixed corner of the Commission. The Commission expanded its participation this year by allocating work teams that include several legal and monitoring and specialists in awareness, education and information. The work teams distribute the Commission’s publications that include brochures, publications and handouts on human rights for the different groups of society. They also answered questions raised by visitors on the powers of the Commission and the various legal aspects related to their topics The corner of the Commission witnessed the signing of two new publications in the field of human rights, the first entitled “Human Rights between Islam and the Laws and the Statute of the Sultanate of Oman”. The second is titled” Education on Human Rights in the Omani Curriculum by Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Salem Al-Balushi. The signing ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Salem Al-Saidi General Secretary of the State Council, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mohammad bin Ibrahim Al-Zadjali, member of the Shura Council, representative of Sohar, and head of Lawyers Association. Among the recent publications that are distributed in the corner of the Commission is a book (A Decade of Time) that outlines the process of the Commission, its origins, its message, its competencies, the nature of its work, its relationship with regional and international organizations, the means and methods of submitting notifications, in addition to its visits to detention centers and prisons. The book also discussed the role of the Commission in responding to what is raised by foreign organizations and governments on issues related to human rights in the Sultanate, and the annual report which provides a summary of what has been done in the field of human rights in the Sultanate during 2018.
