The OHRC Organizes the Forum of Human Rights Institutions in Cooperation with the GCC General Secretariat
H.E. Sheikh Ghosn bin Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of the State Financial and Administrative Control Authority, will be sponsoring the opening ceremony of the Forum of Human Rights Institutions in the States of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. The forum is organized by the OHRC in collaboration with the GCC General Secretariat and is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 13.
 
The form will witness the participation of representatives of the GCC General Secretariat, national institutions, entities and committees concerned with human rights in the GCC countries, the OHCHR, the OHCHR Regional Office in Beirut, a number of government entities and institutions, as well as civil society institutions in the Sultanate of OmanThe organization of this forum is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between human rights institutions in the GCC countries.
 
It aims to emphasize the significance of enhancing and developing the mechanisms and methods by which human rights councils and committees in the GCC countries operate, aligning with the objectives of the United Nations, and fostering a greater commitment to the Paris Principles in this regard.The forum aims to review the basic objectives of the United Nations in the field of human rights, the Paris Principles and their implementation mechanisms, and a general clarification of all human rights institutions in the GCC countries besides the date of their establishment and the development of their mechanisms.Moreover, the forum reviews the efforts of the GCC General Secretariat in spreading and promoting the culture of human rights.
 
It highlights the existing mechanisms and means in the field of cooperation and coordination between the GCC institutions and ways to develop and strengthen them in order to achieve more joint action with brotherly and friendly countries regionally and internationally in the framework of human rights.
