The OHRC Deputy Chairperson, Saud bin Saleh Al Maawali, met His Excellency Mark Rubin, Deputy Regional Director of UNICEF for the Middle East and North Africa, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, joint aspects of cooperation between the two sides in the field related to the child’s rights and enhancing the awareness and education programs that target children were discussed.
During the visit, the UNICEF delegation was introduced to the terms of reference of the OHRC as well as the monitoring mechanism, reception of complaints, the OHRC’s role in following up on the rights of the most vulnerable groups and the interaction of the OHRC with regional and international organizations concerned with human rights.
The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Sumaira Chowdhury, the UNICEF Representative in the Sultanate of Oman, and Khadija Al Kindi, Communications and Outreach Officer at UNICEF. The meeting was also attended by the lawyer/Mohammed bin Ali Al Marzouqi, Head of the International Cooperation Committee, Shatha bint Abdul Majeed Al Zadjali, Director of the Organizations and International Relations Department, and Al Mother bin Ahmed Al Siyabi, Head of International Organizations Department of the Oman Human Rights Commission.
