Oman Human Rights Commission Participates in the Roundtable Dialogue on the United Nations Common Position on Detention at the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
A delegation from the Oman Commission on Human Rights, chaired by the Vice-Chairman of the Commission, Saud bin Saleh Al-Mawali, participated in the Roundtable Dialogue on the United Nations Common Position on Detention: The phenomenon of overcrowding and its reduction in detention centers (prisons) in the Middle East and North Africa region, the events of which were held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, organized by the Regional Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for the Middle East and North Africa and the International Organization for Penal Reform, in partnership with the Public Security Directorate in Jordan.
 
The dialogue sessions included a review of the United Nations system’s common position on detention and the impact of overcrowding in prisons on human rights, presenting the experiences of a number of States, demonstrating the role of parties, and proposed solutions for the promotion of human rights.
 
Member of the delegation was Mr. Abdulaziz bin Ali al-Saadi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the Oman Human Rights Committee.
