Oman Human Rights Commission participated in a discussion forum organized by the General Directorate of Social Development, represented by Family Development Department in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, in collaboration with Omani Women’s Association in Ibra, focusing on women’s rights in Omani legislation. The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Yahya bin Nasser bin Mansour Al-Khusaibi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs.
During the event, Shadha bint Abdul Majid Al-Zadjaliyah, Director of the Organizations and International Relations Department at Oman Human Rights Commission, presented a paper on the reality of women’s rights under local laws and international obligations. She discussed the role of the Omani Human Rights Commission in protecting and promoting women’s rights, local, regional, and international mechanisms concerning women, aligning national laws and regulations with international commitments related to women, and efforts to raise awareness and educate various segments of society about women’s rights.
The discussion forum included several papers and enriching discussions and dialogues about the importance of enhancing legal awareness regarding women’s rights, gender equality in Omani law, and the role of women in the social protection system.
