As part of the integration between legislative councils and human rights committees, Oman Human Rights Commission, in collaboration with the State Council, organized an introductory meeting for the honorable members of the Council.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Council and several Council staff members.
During the meeting, two working papers were presented. Professor. Rashid bin Hamad Al-Balushi delivered a paper introducing national human rights institutions, highlighting Oman Human Rights Commission, its mandates, and its framework of operations.
He also discussed the international conventions on human rights to which the Sultanate of Oman is a party, as well as the existing interaction between national committees and legislative councils.
In addition, lawyer Saud bin Saleh Al-Maawali, Vice Chairman of the Commission, presented a working paper on the draft National Human Rights Strategy and its practical steps.
