Professor Rashid bin Hamad Al Balushi, Chairman of Oman Human Rights Commission, met with Jony Barugayar-White, Human Rights Officer at the National Institutions and Regional Mechanisms Section of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Cynthia Radert, Vice Chair, Secretary of the Sub-Committee on Accreditation of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The meeting was attended by several Commission members and relevant staff.
The meeting included an introduction to the Oman Human Rights Commission, its mandate, working mechanisms, and structure. It also addressed the approved methodologies for preparing reports by national institutions, and discussed ways and mechanisms to promote and protect human rights, in addition to exploring meaningful partnerships in the field of human rights between the Commission and various state institutions.
It is worth noting that during their visit to the Sultanate of Oman, the delegation will meet with several officials from state institutions concerned with human rights issues, as well as representatives from civil society organizations.
