Chairperson of the Shura Council Meets with Chairperson of the Oman Human Rights Commission

His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairperson of the Shura Council, met with Professor Rashid bin Hamad Al Balushi, Chairperson of the Oman Human Rights Commission, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to strengthen institutional cooperation and discuss the Shura Council’s role in reviewing the Commission’s annual report and examining the recommendations contained therein, thereby contributing to efforts to protect and promote human rights in the Sultanate of Oman.
 
The meeting also addressed a number of issues concerning the human rights situation in the Sultanate of Oman and reviewed efforts undertaken in this field, with a view to enhancing coordination and collaboration among relevant national institutions and supporting ongoing efforts to protect human rights and uphold their principles.
 
The meeting was held in implementation of Article 21 of the Statute of the Oman Human Rights Commission, promulgated by Royal Decree No. 47/2026, concerning the submission of a copy of the Commission’s annual report to the Shura Council.
