Oman Human Rights Commission Participates in the Arab-African Forum on Business and Human Rights in Marrakesh
A delegation from Oman Human Rights Commission, headed by lawyer Mohammed bin Ali Al Marzouqi, Chair of the International Cooperation Committee, participated in the Arab-African Forum on Business and Human Rights, held in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco, under the theme: “Towards a Regional Dialogue Supporting a Responsible Economy that Respects Human Rights.”
 
The forum was organized by the Inter-ministerial Delegation for Human Rights in Morocco, in cooperation with various governmental sectors and United Nations agencies, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, with wide regional and international participation.
 
The forum was attended by more than 200 participants, including government officials, representatives of human rights institutions, regional and international organizations, as well as representatives from public and private sector companies, civil society organizations, and experts and researchers specialized in the fields of economics and human rights.
 
The sessions focused on several key themes, including supporting the respect of human rights in the context of business, exchanging experiences on mechanisms for integrating human rights standards into economic policies, discussing challenges related to supply chains, regulatory frameworks for priority sectors, and enhancing transparency and accountability.
 
Participants reviewed Arab and African experiences in developing and implementing national action plans on business and human rights, and explored opportunities for joint cooperation to implement the UN Guiding Principles in this field.
 
Oman Human Rights Commission’s delegation included Dr. Yahya bin Mohammed Al-Hinai, Commission Member; Dr. Thuraya bint Hamad Al-Rashdiya, Commission Member; and Ms. Shatha bint Abdul Majeed Al-Zadjaliya, Director of the Department of Organizations and International Relations at Oman Human Rights Commission.
